An object that falls is under the influence of gravity, and it is said that it is on the state of "free fall". Free fall can occur pretty much everywhere, as long as these objects don't face any air resistance, and as long as they fall at 9.8 m/s/s.
When an object is free falling, and its acceleration is increasing as it is falling downwards, then the acceleration is downwards too. These unit of measurement is very important, for it has many applications in real life. Let's put, for example, that you want to measure the height of a cliff. What do you do? You grab a nearby rock, let it fall downwards, and count the time it takes to come in contact with the ground. If you make the appropriate calculations, you will get an approximate height of the cliff. That is just one application of this topic in real life, but of course, there are many, many more.
This topic is vital for the physics course, whether you are in high school or college, so make sure that you make the most out of it. By the way, our blog's purpose is helping, especifically for free, so don't hesitate and check out our entries, games/activities, and information we got for the better understanding of this topic. Once again, welcome aboard.

Welcome to Easy Free Fall! A blog dedicated to the fun and easy teaching and learning of the physics topic "Free Fall". Here you will find activities that are meant to help you learn this concept and have fun at the same time, we hope you enjoy our content. A Spanish version is available at the bottom.
Free Fall Games/Activities
GAME 1) FUN HOPPING
Materials: Cronometer, measuring tape.
Instructions:
1. Pace yourself on a flat surface along with a partner, and place right next to your sides a measuring tape vertically oriented.
2. When your partner signals you, jump as high as you can while he starts the cronometer.
3. Right when you touch the ground, record the time you spent in the air.
4. Repeat this activity for a total of 3 times and get an average time of yourself on the air.
GAME 2) THE BALL
Materials: Tennis ball, cronometer, a place with a ceiling (you must know the exact measurement of this ceiling).
Instructions:
1. Head to the place with the measured ceiling.
2. When your partner signals you, throw the ball for it to contact the ceiling, while your partner starts the cronometer.
3. When the ball comes to contact with the ground, your partner should have the time it took to fall or the time it spent on the air.
4. Repeat this activity from 3 to 5 times to get an average of the time it spent on the air.
GAME 3) REACTION TIME
Materials: Ruler, cronometer.
Instructions:
1. Place a ruler between two of your fingers, preferably index and middle, in such a way that the 30 cm line is at the level of the beginning of your palm.
2. When your partner signals, let go of the ruler and try to catch it with your hand as fast as you can, as long as you catch it with the same hand with which you were holding it and with the same way of holding it. At the same time your partner will start the cronometer.
3. Record the place on the ruler on which your fingers ended up, as well as the time you took to catch it.
4. Repeat this activity 3 times to register your average reaction time and the average distance the ruler fell at the moment of catching it.

Juegos/Actividades de Caída Libre
JUEGO 1) SALTANDO
Materiales: Cronómetro, cinta de medir.
Instrucciones:
